The LAPADA Antiques & Fine Art Fair at NEC

NEC, Birmingham, UK, 10th – 14th January 2001.

Exquisite Italian Renaissance Furniture Highlights

Majestic Italian Renaissance furniture will be a major attraction in a display of rare and special works of art to be offered for sale at The LAPADA Antiques & Fine Art Fair at the NEC, Birmingham, UK, 10th – 14th January 2001.

Connoisseurs and collectors from across the world will be attending this prestigious event which is widely regarded to be one of Europe’s most important art and antiques events of the year. The Fair is organised by Centre Exhibitions at the NEC for The
Association of Art & Antique Dealers (LAPADA) and features 105 exhibitors from across the UK.

Huntington Antiques, dealers from Stow-in-the-Wold, will be exhibiting for the first time and will be showing a superb selection of early European and English furniture of the highest quality. Among their many outstanding exhibits will be a profusely carved
majestic Renaissance hall table from a grand 16th century Italian palazzo. Equally rare and important will be an 16th century walnut throne chair, abundantly carved with many motifs, which once was on show at the North Carolina Museum of Art. A
16th century Italian octagonal centre table with a solid chestnut top is another major exhibit, so too an extremely rare English oak hall court cupboard made during the reign of James I and, from around 1500, a fine Gothic oak coffer made in
Northamptonshire.

Many fabulous and rare exhibits will be featured across the fair. Fine paintings, ceramics, silver, jewellery, bronzes, rugs, glass, carved ivory and decorative objets d’art from across the world will be of major interest to collectors. Such a range of
superlative pieces establishes The LAPADA Fair as a major event in the international art market.

For 2001, the fair moves to The Atrium Hall 19, the NEC’s newest and most prestigious venue and a spacious and ideal setting for this major event. Innovative presentation, a highly distinctive décor and a new choice of restaurants and cafés will
make it the one of the most stylish antiques fairs in the UK. Says organiser Fran Foster: ‘The LAPADA Antiques & Fine Art Fair attracts more than 15,000 visitors and its presentation and setting is most important. The finest antiques and works of art
need a sympathetic ambience, which we can provide with great care and attention at the NEC. Exhibits are strictly vetted for quality and authenticity and all exhibitors abide by The LAPADA Code of Practice. This ensures visitors can make their
purchases with confidence.’

Seminar Theatre

For the first time at The LAPADA Fair, visitors can enjoy a series of informative and entertaining talks about antiques and collecting, held regularly in the Seminar Theatre. Entrance is free and talks will be presented on such subjects as The Grand Tour and The History of Dining by speakers including Richard Edmonds from The Birmingham Post and Edward Reily Collins from Hallidays Antiques.

Leading Exhibitors

The exhibitors include many of the UK’s leading specialist dealers. Among the period furniture specialists will be Reindeer Antiques from Northamptonshire, Hallidays Antiques of Dorchester-on-Thames, Wakelin & Linfield from Sussex, Owen
Humble from Jesmond, Moxhams Antiques from Bradford upon Avon, Anthemion from Cumbria, Holly Johnson Antiques from Chesire, John Whitelaw & Sons from Perthshire, Paul Hopwell from West Haddon, Chevertons of Edenbridge and
