The LAPADA Antiques & Fine Art Fair

Members of the Royal Family including Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, Princess Alexandra, Princess Alice and Prince Albert Edward will be joined by leading politicians, writers and celebrities at The LAPADA Antiques & Fine Art Fair at the NEC, Birmingham, 16th - 21st January 2002 - in the form of Parian statuettes.

2002 marks the Golden Jubilee of HRH Queen Elizabeth II and to commemorate the occasion porcelain specialists Clive & Lynne Jackson from Cheltenham will be mounting an extensive display of Parian including models of the Royal Family and important people from the 19th century such as Gladstone and Disraeli.

Parian, a form of unglazed white porcelain made to imitate marble, was extremely popular throughout the Victorian period and enthusiastically collected by the Royal Family who kept their extensive collections of busts and statuettes at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight where they can be seen today.

Discerning connoisseurs and collectors from across the world will be attending The LAPADA Antiques & Fine Art Fair which is widely regarded to be one of Europe’s most important art and antiques events of the year. The Fair is organised by Centre Exhibitions at the NEC for The Association of Art & Antique Dealers (LAPADA) and features 105 exhibitors. In a move to further broaden the appeal of the Fair, exhibits will not be restricted age, allowing for a greater range of early 20th century objets d'art together with a selection of Modern British and contemporary paintings and works of art.
