BRITISH ARMED FORCES TO STAR IN DUXFORD'S VE ANNIVERSARY AIR SHOW

The Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army will all be participating in Duxford's Victory in Europe Anniversary Air Show on Saturday 7 & Sunday 8 May.

The show, at the Cambridgeshire airfield, will be the biggest commemorative event of its kind in the UK marking the end of the Second World War. All the armed forces will take part to reflect their contribution to the final Allied victory in 1945.

The Blue Eagles Army Air Corps Helicopter Display Team will perform their thrilling aerobatic display on both days, showing the remarkable agility of their five helicopters.

The Royal Air Force will dominate the modern aviation element of the show. Many of the Air Force's current front line types will take part including the Hercules, Tornado jet, Hawk and Merlin. In addition, the RAF Falcons parachute team will remind the crowds of the role played by Allied paratroops during the Second World War.

The modern Royal Navy will be represented at the air show by the remarkable Sea Harrier jump jet. The aircraft, more use to operating from aircraft carrier decks at sea, will be sure to thrill the crowds.

Says Duxford's Marketing & Public Relations Manager Tracey Woods "We are delighted to have all our armed forces represented at the show to star alongside some of the aircraft of the Second World War period. With over three hours flying entertainment and a world-class Museum and heritage complex to explore, there really is something for everyone at the show."

Duxford is just south of Cambridge on the M11. Ample free parking or Park and Ride from Junction 11, M11. Gates open at 8.00 am, main flying display begins at 2.00pm. Tickets - Adults £20, Children £8, Concessions £8. Standard entrance to the air show will be FREE to all those aged 60 or over. VIP Gold Pass tickets are also available in advance - for more information about air show tickets or the flying programme call the ticket office on 01223 499353 or visit www.iwm.org.uk.
