THE NATIONAL BOAT CARAVAN AND
OUTDOOR SHOW
14 – 22 February 2004
NEC, Birmingham
• The biggest outdoor show in the UK
• Over 600 exhibitors – more than ever before
• Over 570 touring caravans and motorhomes on show
• More than 250 of all types of boats on display
The 43rd National Boat, Caravan & Outdoor
Show, held at the NEC, Birmingham
between 14 – 22 February 2004, will
be the biggest to date with an extensive selection of boats, caravans,
motorhomes, camping equipment, holiday parks, tourist destinations, tourist
boards and leisure products, providing a wide choice for enjoying the great
outdoors.
This year's show will be opened by the great explorer Sir Ranulph
Fiennes.
The National Boat, Caravan & Outdoor show
is now the 6th biggest consumer event in the country. The 2003 event
welcomed an ABC audited 133,761 visitors, representing a 10% increase in
visitors from the previous year.

The show is a great day out for all the family enabling everyone to
unlock the variety of the great outdoors. Whatever your passion – whether
it be relaxing on a canal boat, hiking up Ben Nevis, winding you way through
the downs in a caravan, camping by the beach or hitting the throttle in
a sportsboat on the open water – the show is for you.
The show is divided into 5 main areas and will include:
CARAVANS AND MOTORHOMES
• For land lovers, there will be over 560 touring caravans and motorhomes
ranging from £9,000 – £250,000 as well as the latest
in 4x4’s, tents, outdoor clothing and accessories, plus a variety of stands
and exhibits of products for outdoor living and entertaining. Exhibitors
include Swift, Brownhills, Coachman and Lunar.
• For the second year running, The National Caravan Council will be
jointly promoting its ‘Start Caravanning’ campaign with the Camping
and Caravanning Club, offering advice on how to get into this leisure pursuit,
as well as practical caravanning courses for those wanting to learn the
basics of manoeuvring.

PARK HOMES AND HOLIDAY HOMES
• The Holiday and Park Home Village will allow visitors to learn
more about this alternative choice of home. A wide variety of homes to
cover all tastes will be on display and exhibitors include:
BOATS
• For those who like to spend their leisure time on the water, there
will be over 250 boats on display including: offshore cruisers, offshore
sports boats, power boats, rigid inflatables, dinghies, jet bikes, inland
cruisers, river boats, narrow boats, canoes and kayaks, sailing dinghies
and trailer sailors. Prices range from £150 - £650,000 and
brand names on display include Azimut, Fairline, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Bayliner,
Sea Doo, Yamaha, Crownline and Chaparral.

CAMPING AND TRAILER TENTS
• All sizes and types of tents will be on display in the show’s biggest
ever camping section. Manufacturers include Penine Leisure Products and
J & R Leisure. Camping and tents on show will cost in the range of
£50 - £4,000. Penine Leisure Products will be releasing a complete
new range of Conway folding campers and trailer tents for the 2004 season
compete with product demonstrations from the stand.
• The Camping and Caravanning Club will be drawing winners for
its yearly ‘camping miles’ competition – a reward points system for members
who stay on Caravan and Camping Club campsites. The first prize is a Caravelair
Hermitage 472 Caravan worth MRRP £11,500. Representatives from UK
and pan European campsites will also be exhibiting, helping to provide
brilliant ideas and guidance on choosing a campsite.

TOURISM
• Major tourist boards from right across the UK and all over Europe
will help visitors discover a huge variety of places to visit. Representatives
from holiday parks, boating holidays and camp sites galore will also give
plenty of bright ideas to visitors choosing their 2004 holiday destination.
There will also be a host of motor vehicles and ancillary products
and services on show to provide visitors with an all-round Boat, Caravan
and Outdoor experience. For example:
SHOW FEATURES
The show will have a dazzling selection of activities for everyone to
enjoy including:
The Dometic Gold Mine
A themed activity area for the kids, located in hall 4. Let the children
run wild in our adventure gold mine. They can climb the mine face, explore
tunnels, slide the zip wire, pan for gold and trade in the bounty for a
free prize courtesy of Dometic.
The American Express Indoor Skiing and Snowboarding
Slope
The American Express Indoor Skiing and Snowboarding Slope will provide
a great opportunity for visitors to try skiing or snowboarding under the
watchful eye of professional instructors. Suitable for all ages, this feature
will also be host to snow tubing. Visitors to the show can book a session
on the starter slope, which will be positioned at the rear of hall 5,
clearly visible from show entrance.
Ocean Odyssey and Central Marina
Visitors will get a taste for luxury cruising at the ‘Ocean Odyssey’,
located in Hall 5, which will display some of the most luxurious 50ft boats
on the market. For those with a more conservative budget, the ‘Central
Marina’ will showcase a wide variety boats ranging from 26ft up to 50ft.
Visitors will be able to board the boats to take a closer look via a raised
pontoon.
Inland Waterways Village
For those who prefer calmer waters, the Inland Waterways Village is
the place to head for. Based on a Victorian industrial theme, this feature
totally captures the look and feel of the inland waterways of old and will
be host to a display of superb new narrowboats.
Volvo Sail and Canoe Zone
For people of all ages who have never tried sailing or canoeing but
have always wanted to have a go then Hall 5 is the place to go. A specially
built pool will enable newcomers to take to dinghies and canoes under the
supervision of qualified RYA volunteers. The zone also includes regional
sailing clubs, surf kiting, jet biking, and sub aqua clubs offering advice
on where you can take part in these great recreational watersports.
Experts Theatre
The Experts Theatre is a free to attend, open plan area from where
visitors can enjoy a series of presentations and question and answer sessions
from leading clubs, associations, manufacturers from the world of outdoor
leisure. All sessions will be fun and have an informative but entertaining
atmosphere. Light refreshments will be served on the area.
COST:
Tickets cost £11 for an adult, £7 for children (5-15) and
senior citizens (60+) and £30 for a family (two adults and three
children under 16). Tickets can be bought in advance for the reduced rate
of £9 for adults, £6 for children and senior citizens and £25
