THE BOOT
Studley
tel: 01527 852 192

We recently had the good fortune to visit "The Boot" at Studley.  This is definitely not just another cheap and cheerful pub restaurant.

The interior of the restaurant is very comfortable with tasteful decor, combining traditional and modern features which work very well together. There is also a nice pub adjoining.

The high quality, freshly prepared food is served by friendly and efficient staff. There is a very varied menu, offering plenty of choice for all courses, including a variety of vegetarian dishes with some tempting speciality coffees and liqueurs to round off your meal.

We chose smoked salmon with lemon, chive and parsley butter and potted smoked and poached salmon with Norwegian prawns for our starters - both were served with delicious malted grain bread.  For the main course, I tried a vegetarian option of roasted spinach, pepper and aubergine with sour cream and chive sauce, baked in puff pastry and served with a generous portion of new potatoes, while Robert chose  roasted lamb served with rosemary gravy, roasted cherry tomatoes, spring onion mashed potatoes and asparagus tips.  All was delicious and beautifully cooked and presented. I really didn't feel I had room for a pudding but finally succumbed to the descriptions on the menu and opted for lemon tart with raspberry sorbet which was just right - light and refreshing.  Robert, on the other hand, chose rich chocolate tart with clotted cream ice cream and warm chocolate fudge sauce which was just as you would expect - rich, delicious and filling.  The whole was rounded off with a cafetiere of freshly prepared coffee which provided us with two large cups each.

Prices range from £3.25 to £4.95 for starters, from £7.95 to £15.25 for a main dish and £3.50 to £4.40 for dessert.  There is also a fixed price menu on Sun - Thur where you can choose either two courses for £10.95 or three courses for £13.95.

We would certainly recommend The Boot - it's relaxed enough for just a casual visit and special enough for a celebration.
