Cake 2006
 NEC, Birmingham
  Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th November 2006

Over 10 years of success for specialist show!
Supported by Cake Craft & Decoration magazine

Only quality ingredients go in to the recipe for ICHF’s Cake 2006 at the NEC, Birmingham from Saturday 11th to Sunday 12th November 2006. Now in it’s 12th year, this superb show is the UK’s largest specialist consumer event for dedicated cake crafters and features displays to admire, specialist demonstrations, hands-on workshops, competitions and trade stands offering the biggest and best selection of cake decorating materials, books, creative equipment and accessories cake decorating enthusiasts could wish for.

This international show will attract more than 7,000 dedicated cake crafters this year, from college students and hobby crafters to sugarcraft groups and societies as well as cake shop proprietors and trade. They will all be looking for new ideas, inspiration and specialist supplies from the array of companies and expert demonstrators taking part in Cake.

ICHF, Cake Craft & Decoration magazine and the British Sugarcraft Guild are working together to ensure you have the very best in cake decoration to see and enjoy. The Demonstration programme runs throughout the two days and features the familiar faces of the UK cake craft and sugarcraft industry together with international demonstrator Marcela Sanchez from Brazil.

Cake is supported by Cake Craft & Decoration magazine and visitors can meet the editor Julie Askew and her team who will share their hints, tips and practical advice on all your cake decorating needs and find solutions to your cake decorating problems.

Shelia Lampkin, founder and co-organiser of Cake and ex-editor of Cake Craft and Decoration magazine, said, “Building on over 10 years of success and covering all aspects of Cake decorating and sugarcraft, Cake is a unique opportunity for everyone interested in cake decorating to come together and discover what this creative industry has to offer.”

The sights and smells coming from The Bakery are a delight for the senses! Valerie Hedgethorne from Cake Craft and Decoration's regular bakery feature will be demonstrating how to make some of her delicious recipes and assisted by students from Leicester College. Visitors will also be able to sample some of the mouth-watering delights at the end of the session.

A Taste of Sugar is a free drop in workshop where newcomers to sugarcraft have a go working with sugarpaste. Dawn Gemmell and her team of sugarcraft experts from Birmingham College will show how to master the basic techniques and let visitors try some sugar craft modelling for themselves. The friendly team at Birmingham College will also be happy to chat to the more experienced sugarcrafter and help resolve any decorating dilemmas.

Cake is pleased to welcome colleges from the Birmingham and Leicester areas who will be amongst those displaying students work along with other sugarcraft groups from near and far, covering all aspects of cake decoration and sugarcraft.

The British Sugarcraft Guild will be unveiling a centrepiece at the show to mark their 25th Anniversary. The work entitled ‘The British Sugarcraft Guild - 25 years and now we're flying’ features two swans in flight and has been completed by BSG members from all over the country. The British Sugarcraft Guild Demonstration Area will feature a variety of demonstrations by members of the Guild including how to create flowers, modelling, cake top decorations and Christmas cake decorations.

The series of fun and educational Workshops allow visitors to have a go at new techniques or brush up on existing interests, under expert tuition. Talk to the professionals who will be on hand to offer advice and share tips of the trade on every aspect of cake decorating, sugarcraft and baking. The workshops take place at regular intervals throughout the day and will cover Christmas themes, modelling, sugar paste flowers and other inspiring ideas. A small charge is made for the demonstrations and workshops taking place in the theatres around the hall. For more information about booking a place please contact ICHF on 01425 272711.

Cake’s prestigious competition is open to all cake crafters with cash prizes for the winners!
