TRAIN TO BE A FITNESS PROFESSIONAL FOR FREE IN BIRMINGHAM

In light of the current economic downturn, people looking to
progress in the fitness industry or change their current career will be
interested to learn about the launch of free fitness instructing and personal
training courses in Birmingham. The Centre of
Excellence for Fitness, powered by Lifetime, can now offer
government-funded programmes to those who want to be in control of their destiny
and qualify to work as a self employed or employed fitness professional in this
thriving industry.
Matt Punsheon, Centre Manager at the Birmingham venue, says: “With all the
gloomy news about job cuts and the recession, many people are understandably
concerned about their career. But the good news is that the fitness sector is
growing and this is due to the increasing awareness of government initiatives
such as the staging of a successful 2012 Olympics and getting half the nation
active by 2012. With the help of the Centre of Excellence for Fitness, there are
some fantastic, free training opportunities out there to help people achieve a
rewarding career.”
The Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer programmes are unique in the
industry - they are funded by the government and designed to meet the needs of
both employers and employees. Lifetime works in conjunction with some of the
biggest employers in the fitness sector, which means graduates will be
employable once they complete their qualification.
Starting from November 10, each comprises an industry recognised qualification
(lasting four or five weeks) followed by support into a suitable personal
training or fitness instructor role at one of the best health clubs or leisure
centres. The benefits of working in fitness are endless – attractive income,
flexible hours, variety and a great deal of job satisfaction. Professionals will
build relationships and help clients achieve their goals.
Lifetime’s Fitness Instructor programme offers an entry level qualification into
the fitness industry and modules include exercise and fitness knowledge, gym
instructing, first aid, customer service, sports hall set up and interview
skills. The Personal Training programme includes advanced gym programming,
health screening, nutrition and weight management, business skills and
behavioural psychology.
The courses take place at Brindleyplace, Birmingham. Further programmes will run
throughout next year. For more information, visit
