Hollywood glamour inspires the Hobbycrafts and Sewing for Pleasure shows, bringing the romance of the silver screen to The NEC this spring. The event takes place from Thursday 11 – Sunday 14 March and will feature a stunning costume exhibition. A fabulous collection of exquisite wedding gowns, entitled Hollywood Brides will be attracting much attention at the show. This exclusive display of 8 costumes from famous name films captures the exceptional creativity and dressmaking skills of the Hollywood costumiers. Among the show stopping gowns is a wedding dress worn by Andie MacDowell in Four Weddings and a Funeral and the delicate Maid Marion wedding dress featured in Robin Hood – Prince of Thieves. The intricate period replica of Queen Victoria’s wedding dress in Victoria and Albert also features alongside costumes worn by Renee Zellweger, Kevin Costner and Rowan Atkinson. Hobbycrafts, the largest creative hobbies show in the UK, will be staging an extravaganza for the experienced and beginner alike with all the latest creative products, some of which will be new to the UK market. Imagine creative wax artistry, hand-made cards, stained glass, rag rug making, delicate paper butterflies and art nouveau tiles inspiring craft enthusiasts at this ultimate hobby supply show.
The Crafts Beautiful Demonstration Forum will once again be the setting where the more adventurous are challenged by some of the top craft experts in a series of lively workshops, enjoy the daily presentations featuring all the latest kits, plus new ideas, hints and tips on your favourite hobbies. Barbara Santerelli of Imagina, will be demonstrating her unique transparent clarity stamps at the show, along with creating beautiful pictures ideal for card making. Barbara’s designs consist of Victoriana, Art Nouveau and beautiful verses. If you like stencilling then Diane Dorward is on hand for expert advice and stencilling tips. Diane has over 200 designs including large décor motifs such as ivy and topiary trees and small craft designs like flowers and animals. Diane will be illustrating how to apply stencils with dry brush paints to all surfaces including walls, fabric and terracotta pots showing how versatile stencilling can be. Sewing for Pleasure, the UK’s biggest and brightest textile craft show is a must for stitchers and non-stitchers alike. Japanese beads, Austrian Crystals, hand dyed mohair scarves, beaded flowers, silk dupions and handmade mulberry papers are just a handful of items which can be found at the show with many more inspirational ideas, gifts and those hard to find supplies under one roof. The spring show at The NEC brings to the UK the latest craze from Hollywood. Madonna, Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts have all discovered that hand knitting is the hottest stress buster and has become the new hip Hollywood hobby! You’ll also be able to take part in Relax and Knit, enjoying the crescendo of clicking knitting needles and the companionship of enthusiasts and beginners alike inspired by some seriously talented experts! Come and experience an amazing day out, where enthusiasts of all ages and ability actively encourage visitors to have a go at an extraordinary craft or try out new products.
