VISIT THE 2002 HOLIDAY SHOW & SAVE MONEY

There will be lots of ideas for holidays with a difference not only abroad but also here, in the UK.  Some right on the doorstep.

How about a holiday where you bring back something more tangible than memories?

Devon based boat builder, SFK Ltd, will be at the show on stand D20.  Its range of folding boats can be built by enthusiastic amateurs under the watchful eye of an experienced professional.

The Stowaway is a folding boat that measures less than 13cm deep and 56cm wide when compact, which means that it fits on the roof of a car or even inside a large estate.  The boats, which range in length from 1.8m to 3m, are beautifully crafted and can be assembled in a couple of minutes, creating a rigid dinghy, capable of being rowed, motored or sailed.

SFK Ltd has devised a working holiday workshop scheme, whereby holidaymakers produce their own craft at Uffculme in East Devon.

The ‘build your own’ workshop saves up to 20% on the retail price of a Stowaway and takes between five and seven days, which can be spread over a two week period for those who want a couple of weekend breaks doing something completely different and having something to show for it.  More information about the boats can be found on their web site www.stowawayboats.com

HOLIDAY SHOW EXHIBITORS ANNOUNCE THEY’RE OPEN FOR BUSINESS

The horrific events of September 11th shook the world and rocked the very heart of the tourist industry worldwide.

The British public is noted for traditionally placing a high priority on its annual break and exhibitors at this year’s Holiday Show  will be revealing a whole range of holidays designed to inspire and woo public confidence.

Rather than being a shadow of previous shows, the 2002 Holiday Show is set to be bigger and better than ever with more exhibitors taking stands.

Caroline Robinson, Marketing Manager of organisers, Inside Communications, explains: “The show is an opportunity for the tourist industry to announce to the British public that it is not only open for business but raring to go – both here and abroad.

“For the first time there will be representatives at the Show from Latin America Tourist Authority; Croatia will also be taking its first stand.  Holidaymakers looking for a city break with a difference should come and talk to the Hong Kong Tourism Board who will advise on every aspect of visiting the one-time colony from the very best in Chinese cuisine to hiring a junk for your very own junket!

“We are hoping to rekindle public confidence and make people aware that there are a whole host of opportunities for them to consider.”

Seminars on topical subjects in the lecture theatre will feature high profile, industry speakers – visitors are advised to attend in good time as the seats tend to be taken very quickly.  A full programme will be announced closer to the show date.

There will also be a strong UK contingent at this year’s Show comprising tourist boards, venues and holiday groups.

Blackpool, the “Las Vegas of the North” will be demonstrating the high quality of its entertainment along with various other venues and regions will be encouraging visitors back to the enduringly popular, traditional, British resorts and countryside.

MASSES OF UK HOLIDAYS ON SHOW

Before even Boxing Day draws to a close, it’s traditional to start planning that summer holiday.

And what about a holiday here in the UK?  Maybe not initially the first location on the list but why not?

No flying, limited time spent travelling, no language difficulties and food that is familiar.  And there is so much to do.

Exhibitors at the 2002 Holiday Show will be showcasing holidays here in the UK.  There will be representatives from Cornwall to Scotland and all points in between.  Visitors will be able to glean information on where to stay and what to do; there will be help with arranging golfing holidays and suggestions of where to stay for a cosy, weekend break.  There will be health club retreats and vibrant, fun holidays for those who can’t stand peace and tranquillity.

Tourist boards will be on hand to advise on hotels and guest houses to suit all tastes and pockets and there will be information on the accessibility of the countryside following last year’s devastating foot and mouth epidemic.

Caroline Robinson, marketing manager of show organisers, Inside Communications, commented: ”UK tourism has been badly hit over the past 12 months and there continue to be misconceptions on where tourists are welcome and what entertainment is available for them when they get there.  The Holiday Show provides a forum for the industry to speak with the public.

Rekindle Romance with a Holiday

The honeymoon is considered an important component of the wedding and yet so many couples then fail to spend time together on a regular basis.

A holiday is more than a break from work; it is an opportunity to rekindle romance and rejuvenate a relationship.  And when better to start thinking of romance than on Valentine’s Day?

The 2002 Holiday Show  will provide thousands of ideas of where to go from the beauty of the British Isles to the exotic Far East and all points in between.

Find out about the magic of Russia and Eastern Europe by visiting the Intourist stand ; a romantic destination if ever there was one.

The British public is discovering that Russia is an intriguing place to visit with a 20 per cent increase in 2001 on the 52,000 visitors who travelled there the previous year.

Visit the Kirov Opera and the Bolshoi Ballet, enjoy the elegance of St Petersburg, the most European of all Russian Cities and be impressed by the opulence of the Kremlin in Moscow.

There is also the experience of a lifetime on board the Trans-Siberian railway from Moscow to Beijing, crossing up to eight time zones.

Perhaps a weekend in the Cotswolds or at a country manor is more appropriate then come along and talk to the extensive British contingent who will be exhibiting at the show this year.

There will be holidays to suit every taste from the traditional to the exotic.

Opening times will be 11am – 5pm Friday, February 22 and 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday 23 and 24 February.
