The NDS EuroBOSS Series

Donington Park is the place to be on Bank Holiday
Monday, 6th May,
for all motorsport fans. The open paddock and relaxed atmosphere will
allow fans to touch, admire and be photographed with some of the world’s
most famous cars lined up to compete in the NDS
EuroBOSS Series, Europe’s fastest motor racing Series. The Series aims
to stir the passions of all motorsport fans… with just a little assistance
from famous ex-Formula One cars including the howling V12 Ferrari of Jean
Alesi and Michael Schumacher’s thundering V8 Benetton.
The starting grid of at least 24 entrants from the world of Formula
One, Indy Cars and F3000 will be fighting it out in the opening round of
the NDS EuroBOSS Series. The performance of these hybrid cars is stunning
as they still run on slick tyres with the races themselves being fast and
furious allowing the spectators as close to the action as possible.

Organised under the regulations of the RAC
Motor Sports Association – the governing body of motorsport in Great Britain
–
the NDS EuroBOSS Series offers a high-octane spectacle for spectators as
the cars are allowed to race to their full high-speed potential without
the many restrictions placed on current F1 entrants. As a result,
teams competing in the NDS EuroBOSS Series have been responsible for setting
lap records at many UK and European circuits.
On Sunday 5th May events include the Austin 7 Triple Challenge, International
Historic Formula 2 Trophy and on Bank Holiday Monday the feature race is
the NDS EuroBOSS Series with the Alfa Romeo GTA Challenge, Top Hat Enduro
for 60’s and 70’s Historic Touring Cars, 750 Motor Club Formula 4 Championship
providing further on-track action.
For those whose passion runs deeper than the spectacle of the race the
competing 1995 Ferrari V12 was driven to victory in Canada by Jean Alesi,
his only win in F1 whilst the 1994 Benetton V8 Cosworth was driven by Michael
Schumacher in his first ever Championship winning year. The former Jordan
of Rubens Barrichello will also line-up on the grid along with the 1999
Reynard Indy Car of Brian Herta in its original livery. The current EuroBOSS
Masters Champion Bernie Harris will drive a Lola Beatrice, formerly driven
by Patrick Tombay whilst local Derbyshire driver Geoff Farmer will drive
a Pacific Cosworth 3.5 litre V8. It all promises to be an action packed
weekend of high class racing, oozing with nostalgia.
A number of competitors have progressed from the Series for European
Big Open Single Seaters – EuroBOSS – to race in the FIA F3000 Championship,
the FIA World Sportscar Championship and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. One
EuroBOSS team even went on to purchase Minardi and enter Grand Prix racing!
LATEST NEWS
Twenty-four of the worlds most exciting racing cars will line up for
the opening round of the 2002 NDS EuroBOSS Series at Donington Park on
Monday 6th May (Bank Holiday), including no less than 16 cars with an F1
pedigree. Ferrari, Benetton, Arrows, Jordan, Minardi and Tyrrell are all
represented and adding further spice to the race is the involvement of
the Bobby Rahal 1999 Reynard Indy Car in it's original Miller Light livery.
The car, formerly driven by Brian Herta, will be raced at Donington by
Canadian Robbie Sterling, offering spectators a rare opportunity to see
cars from F1 and Indy competing side by side.
The Jean Alesi 1995 Ferrari V12 will be driven by Klaas Zwart and current
EuroBOSS Masters Champion Bernie Harris will compete in a Lola Beatrice,
formerly driven by Patrick Tambay. The 1994 Benetton V8 Cosworth, previously
driven by Michael Schumacher during his first Formula One World Championship
winning season, will be driven by last years Series runner-up Earl Goddard.
An open paddock enables the public to mix with an international driver
line-up
and get within touching distance of the magnificent racing machines
before
experiencing fast and furious track action. The Series holds 15 outright
lap
records across Europe and with a new breed of ambitious young drivers
such
as Earl Goddard, Phil Andrews and Gary Ward recognising the potential
of
NDS EuroBOSS for career progression, it promises to be a compelling
season
of racing.
Phil Andrews, Driver, Team Ascari:
“I can’t wait to get out on the track and Donington Park is my local
circuit, I
first raced there when I was just 16 in Formula Ford. I have held lap
records in
all the categories I have raced at Donington Park so am hoping to keep
up the
tradition on 6th May. It seems to be a good circuit for me, I have
had plenty
of wins and am confident that I will be at the front of the field.”
Earl Goddard, Driver, Kockney Koi Racing:
“This year I shall be undertaking a full season in the NDS EuroBOSS
Series and my aim is simply to win or score well in as many races as possible.
I can’t wait for the first race at Donington having won there twice last
season. The car is well prepared and I’ll be looking for a hat-trick,
the only down side is that I’ll probably get less than an hour to familiarise
myself with the car before the action starts. Let’s hope I’m a quick
learner!"
The Series has been strengthened by a major sponsorship tie-up with
Healthcare specialists NDS and range of media partnerships including
a
television deal with Channel 5. The NDS EuroBOSS Series arrives at
Donington for the first round on 6th May in good shape and with a formidable
grid of exciting cars aiming to stir the passion of all Motorsport
fans.
The 2002 NDS EuroBOSS Series comprises a total of eight rounds, including
races in Ireland, Holland, France, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The cars will take to the track at 10:15am for a practice session with
cars
battling for pole in qualifying at 11:50am. The race powers off
at 3.25pm
and, with a spectacle of 24 cars thundering away from the starting
grid, an
action packed race is guaranteed… with overtaking a certainty!
There will be a full days racing on Bank Holiday Monday as part of
the H&H
Classic Auctions Historic Race Weekend, with support races including
the
International Historic Formula 2 Trophy, the 750 Motor Club Formula
4
Championship, the Stock Hatch Challenge and a one-hour endurance race
for
pre-1965 Touring Cars.
Tickets for the two day event which takes
place on Sunday 5th and Monday 6th May cost £10 (each day) and can
be purchased in advance on the Donington
Circuit Hotline on 0870 4000 699. Tickets
will also be available on the day from Donington Park.
