Motorshow 2000 UK Launch of the eagerly awaited new Ford Mondeo
Ford chief Ian McAllister today paid tribute to the "man in the street" as he announced new prices for the eagerly awaited new Ford Mondeo, making its debut to the British public at the International Motor Show in Birmingham. His reference was, of course, to 'Mondeo Man' the much sought-after individual spoken of in political circles.
With over 30 Mondeos on Ford's biggest-ever Motor Show
stand, the importance of the model to the company is clear. Mr McAllister,
chairman and managing director of Ford Motor Company, said: "With more
than 750,000 Mondeos sold in the United Kingdom, there's no doubt that
it has been one of the success stories of the last decade. "It has been
the best seller in its segment and number one fleet car choice for five
years and among the top three best sellers to retail customers for six
years. "The dependable Ford Mondeo has come to represent the man in
the street - Mondeo Man." On the road prices for the new car, which
goes on sale in the UK on November 1, have been reduced by up to £1,405
(8.8%) and will start at £14,595 on-the-road for the 1.8 litre
