THE NATIONAL EXHIBITION
CENTRE,
THE NATIONAL KNIT, STITCH & CREATIVE CRAFTS SHOW, the UK’s largest knit, stitch and creative crafts show takes place at the National Exhibition Centre 3rd –6th October 2002. Opening times are 10am – 5pm each day. With over 200 exhibitors THE NATIONAL KNIT, STITCH & CREATIVE CRAFTS SHOW covers all aspects of cross stitch, hand and machine knitting, sewing, patchwork, quilting, embroidery, needlepoint, lace making, glass art, toy making, soft furnishing, crochet, dress making and other stitch and creative crafts.
Exhibitors ranging from individual designers and specialists to spinners and manufacturers will be on hand to show, demonstrate and sell yarns, machines, accessories, patterns, literature, kits and lots more. Visitors will be able to see, try, compare and buy all of the latest knit, stitch and creative needlecraft products under one roof. A whole series of attractions is lined up to inspire and entertain visitors including talks, workshops, demonstrations, advice centres and displays. In addition there will be lots of other happenings including visiting celebrities, book signings, free draws, competitions, children’s events and lots more.
Other free features at this year’s exhibition include the Knit Clinic – visitor’s opportunity to get first hand advice on knitting problems from resident experts including Carol Hocknell, The Cross Stitch Clinic where visitors can get first hand advice from cross stitch expert Susan Ryder and The Learning Cycle – special presentation workshops and advice centres hosted by various guilds, colleges and institutions.
Other attractions at the show include 4 presentation theatres covering respectively Cross Stitch, Hand and Machine Knitting, Sewing and Needlecrafts, and Creative Crafts. Top names from these fields will be running presentations, talks, seminars and workshops on a variety of subjects. In addition there will be Hands-On Workshops including Pattern Making with Sean Carey, Sewing Master Classes with TV personality Betty Foster MBE, advice on Dressmaking and Tailoring with Gill Arnold, Cross Stitch with Sylvia Poore, Lace making with Andrea Gillet, Painting on Silk with John Stubbenhagen, Embroidery with Julie Anne and Framing with Keith Frampton.
A popular feature planned for this year’s show will be the Machine Knitting Village where famous designers and experts from the field of machine knitting will be in attendance. The Machine Knitting Village is sponsored by Machine Knitting Monthly whose editorial team will be in attendance. Experts from various cross stitch and needlecraft publications will also be at the show.
As well as the excellent on-site facilities at the NEC there will also be special rest and picnic areas. Free courtesy buses run from the car parks and the on-site Birmingham International railway station and there will be doorstop set down and pick up facilities for coaches. In addition visitors can shop till they drop and pick up bargains galore without being weighed down with their purchases by using the shows free left-luggage service. THE NATIONAL KNIT, STITCH & CREATIVE CRAFTS SHOW is a must for all cross stitch, knitting, needlecraft and creative crafts enthusiasts and is the biggest and best exhibition of it’s kind in the UK. Admission prices covering all attractions are £7.50 adults, £6.50 concessions (concessions include senior citizens, disabled and full time students) and accompanied children under 16 go free. Reduced rate advance tickets are available at £1 off the above prices and organised parties receive 1 free ticket for every 10 paid for.
