Get it on the NHS…!
No Angels, TV’s sexiest drama is released on DVD

Following the hugely successful and critically acclaimed first series, No Angels - Channel 4’s provocative & sassy ten-part drama series is now available to own on DVD from 21 March 2005. From the makers of This Life, Cops, and BAFTA winner Buried, No Angels is a witty and truthful drama focusing on a gang of four young nurses in Leeds who live, work and play together.

Exploding the myth of angels by the bedside, No Angels is an upbeat and honest expose of nursing in the modern NHS in which the girls face life, death and lunacy on the wards of St Margaret’s. Every night they let off steam, with a dangerous appetite for uncomplicated sex and misbehaviour – and if the drugs don’t work, it’s probably because the junior doctor’s taken them.

First shown on Channel 4 in March 2004, No Angels proved to be a massive hit with twenty-something women who shared the same ups and downs as the main protagonists. The series also received rave reviews from national press who called it “Vibrant & witty” (The Guardian), a “warm, life-enhancing, funny and often bitter-sweet comedy” (Daily Mail) and a “Likeable & fast-moving comedy-drama” (Evening Standard).

With the new series beginning in Spring 2005, the new No Angels triple-disc DVD is a must-have for fans of the first series and features all ten episodes plus a host of extras including a ‘making of’ documentary, tour of the set, ‘a typical day’ and out-takes.

The Cast
Anji (Sunetra Sarker) and Beth (Jo Joyner) are the babies of the gang. Anji may be set on an arranged marriage, and sex-kitten Beth has yet to meet the rich consultant of her dreams, but that’s not going to stop them hunting down any other man they fancy in the meantime. And what they want, they usually get.

Single mum Lia (Louise Delamere) is sharp-tongued and funny. Having mastered the art of sympathetic detachment, she’s a great nurse but a lousy mother. With a 12-year old daughter acting like she’s 21, Lia is about to find that juggling work and home can be very complicated.

Lovely Kate (Kaye Wragg) is the acting sister on the male-dominated Medical Assessment Unit. She’d cope better with the sexual politics if she remembered the first rule of nursing: doctors are the enemy. But Kate falls for them instead….

The fresh young cast also features Derek Riddell (The Book Group, Clocking Off) as the girls’ sexy nemesis, Senior House Officer Jamie.

No Angels was devised by Toby Whithouse and is written by a team of writers including Toby Whithouse, Jane English, Kate Gartside, Sarah Phelps, Chris Dunlop and Ben Richards. The directors are Minkie Spiro, Julian Holmes, Clara Glynn and Julie Anne Robinson. Executive Producer is Simon Heath (Men Only, Attachments, Love Again) and Series Producer is Helen Gregory (EastEnders, Grafters, In Defence).

No Angels was created by World Productions for Channel 4. Watch out for Series 2 in March 2005.
