ICHF have moved the extremely popular textile art show,
Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch to
Birmingham NEC for the very first time this
spring, joining Sewing for Pleasure and
Hobbycrafts to create 3 fantastic shows for the
price of 1 bigger and better than ever before! Find all of the latest ideas and
designs from the world of sewing, textiles, fashion and craft, all from
25th – 28th March.

Meet the experts at Sewing for Pleasure for
top fashion and dressmaking tips! For visitors looking to improve their sewing
skills, join Alison Smith of 'Alison Victoria School of Sewing' for a half an
hour session and learn how to create a fabulous finish to your garments. Modify
your existing wardrobe at the Customisation Station and get new and easy ideas
from talented designers to add some sparkle to your clothes!
Cross stitchers and counted thread enthusiasts will be itching to join Jane
Greenoff's Itch to Stitch Workshop! Jane will give problem-solving advice and
provide instant stitch lessons including cutting Hardanger, or working
hemstitch; how to embellish your embroideries with perfect French knots, and
much more.
Visit the Pattern Bar for all the latest pattern books and get advise from
dressmaking expert Thelma Judge, who worked for many years as the Dressmaking
Advisor for John Lewis's flagship store in London's Oxford Street. At the Media
Hub you can meet the teams from your favourite magazines including
well-established titles such as Sewing World and Sew Today, plus Sew Hip and Sew
which are new to the market!
Brand new to the show this year is the Junior Stitch Club, offering 8 – 16 year
old children the chance to try a sewing machine – for FREE!

Meet the sewing experts and ask everything you need to know about dressmaking,
sewing and tailoring for soft furnishing and fashion!
• Leicestershire based Michelle Pye runs a selection of dressmaking and
tailoring courses
• Gill Arnold offers inspirational training for beginners and professional
dressmakers at her studio in Birmingham.
• Sara Radford teaches informal workshops for dressmaking, boned bodices and
period corset making and regular weekly sewing surgery at her Devon home
• Janet Moville runs the 'Modern Approach Sewing School' in Lancashire, teaching
modern methods of dressmaking and tailoring to all ages and abilities.
• Pen Harrison has a wealth of experience in soft furnishings and runs a
thriving business in the West Midlands.
Visit the Learn to Knit stand and take part in the brand new nautical knitting
project 'Above and Below the Waves' in aid of the RNLI’s Train One - Save Many
Campaign and designed by Alison Murray. When complete the display will
incorporate a walk through tunnel representing life under and above the sea and
will feature exclusively at ICHF shows in autumn 2010 and spring 2011.
Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch is celebrating its 21st Anniversary at this special
show so come and enjoy the inspirational features and stunning displays from
Textile Artists around the UK. Watch 3 FREE catwalk shows a day hosted by Brenda
Killigrew from Inkberrow Design Centre and get up close to the OSCAR and BAFTA
winning 18th century-style costumes, originally worn by Keira Knightley and
Ralph Fiennes from the British hit film ‘The Duchess’.
In Celebration of Stitch brings together an incredible variety of pieces
celebrating expressions of individualism. Pearls of Wisdom celebrates the
Quilters Guild 30th Anniversary with a quilt from each region. Stylish Stitches
is an exciting new joint venture between the UK Hand Knitting Association and
the National Federation of Women's Institutes with original home or fashion
accessories knitted using unusual materials, fibres and textures.
Nearly 60 years ago Constance Howard, students from Goldsmiths College and
members of the WI, created 'The Country Wife' Textile Mural for the Festival of
Britain in 1951. The enormous piece of textile art measures 4.5m by 5m and is
currently in the hands of the National Needlework Archive at the start of a
restoration project - visit their stand to find out how you could help keep the
Country Wife Mural alive.
Sewing fanatics could be in with the chance of winning £1,500 worth of prizes in
the Stitch/Madeira Competition 2010! Stitch Magazine have joined forces with
Madeira Uk Ltd in this Glimpses of 'The Swinging Sixties' themed competition
open to all embroidery enthusiasts. Whether you work by hand, machine or mixed

entrants will be displayed and judged at the show and there will be a prize for
