Welcome to the Birmingham 101 Ice Hockey page.

The major ice hockey team in the area is the Solihull Blaze side, whose home is the Solihull Ice Rink , they have enjoyed considerable success in recent years.

In the 1997-1998 season they achieved the notable treble of league, conference, and play-off successes.

The start of the 1998-1999 season saw Solihull Blaze being one of the founders of a new league, the English Premier League formed by nine teams, mainly from the English League.

The season again saw Solihull Blaze dominant in many of the games and competitions resulting in them winning the new English Premier League by a clear 4 points over the next team, the Milton Keynes Kings. They reached the final of the English Cup but were defeated 13-9 by Milton Keynes over 2 legs on this occasion, but the season was rounded off on a high note in April by winning the English Premier League play-offs 5-3 yet again against Milton Keynes.
