Thursday 3 March – Sunday 20 March
mac Productions present:
Stone Soup
By Phillip Monks

A story about sharing and making friends in surprising places.

Following last year’s acclaimed Easter Production, The Elves and the Shoemakers, this year’s production Stone Soup promises to be just as much, if not more fun. Join Minky, Manky Money Man (part monkey, bird and man) and others in a production full of exciting sets, puppets and music, especially designed for younger theatre goer aged three and above.

Who would imagine you could make soup from a stone? Travelling has fired Sonya’s appetite and when she arrives at the house of a glamorous witch, she is very hungry. The distrustful witch doesn’t want to feed her, until Sonya produces a stone that she says makes the most delicious soup.

As they make the stone soup, they tell each other stories from all over the world. Whirlwind adventures, extraordinary characters and a journey of discovery and friendship follow. Whilst telling the stories, ingredients for a slap up meal are added bit by bit. Finally the soup is done and all the newfound friends enjoy the feast of food and words they have made together.

"Stone Soup" is written by Phillip Monks, directed by Malachi Bogdanov and designed by Kate Bunce
Phillip Monks is  currently Playwright in Residence at mac, on a one-year Arts Council Bursary exploring theatre writing for young people. Stone Soup is his current commission.
