With a sensational new line up of the best in international circus,
Zippos promises to serve up a knock-out season in 2003. From Russia the
mad-cap Boxing Fantastic inject some hilarious bounce into the noble art
of boxing, Columbian duo Los Marinhos
are guaranteed to get the adrenaline pumping with their death defying high
wire antics, whilst the energy and grace of sensational Mongolian aerialists
Bolder & Gemma will leave audiences gasping. Add in French clown
Mathieu and his troupe of cheeky farm-yard ducks, England’s very own ringmaster
extraordinaire, Norman Barrett and his amazing performing budgerigars,
Tom Roberts’ spectacular Palomino horses plus trapeze thrills, juggling
prowess, dazzling dancers and you have all the ingredients of a jam-packed,
fun-filled feast of a show!
Bouncing Boxers
Forget celebrity grudge-matches, Zippos brings you a new and unique
craze in pugilism - bouncing boxing! Battling it out for supremacy
using a full sized trampoline instead of boxing ring, the mad-cap mayhem
of Moscow’s Boxing Fantastic will have audiences in stitches in an act
that pulls no punches!
Daffy Ducks & Crazy Clowns
French clowning genius Mathieu’s unique brand of humour takes on a
new dimension of the feathered kind this year, in the form of a troupe
of 13 cheeky ducks! Trained by world famous animal trainer George Meyrick
Fay, the mischievous band of farm yard friends will join Mathieu, “human
cartoon” Tweedy and acrobat and physical comic, Ovi for a frenetic routine
of rousing clown capers bound to get the big top bellowing with laughter.
Aerial Stars … And Stripes
Audiences will marvel at the stunning acrobatic talent showcased at
Zippos in 2003. From Mongolia, Bolder and Gemma will wow with their amazing
aerial antics, soaring through the air in an exhaustingly energetic act,
swooping and skipping high above the audience. There’s added action from
dare-devil glamour girl, Lily on her swinging trapeze, and the father and
son double act Los Marinhos defy gravity
– and death – in a breath-taking high wire act. From the tough streets
of Colombia, the duo perform without the aid of safety nets, in a strictly
“don’t try this at home” feat of exhilarating, adrenaline-pumping skill.
Also glittering under the spotlight in a sensual serving of acrobatic prowess
are Zebras, a troupe of eight jaw-droppingly agile performers from Mongolia.
Juggling Genius
Fresh from success as a principal performer with the prestigious Holiday
on Ice show, world-class juggler David Cousins joins Zippos with a incredible
display of accuracy, co-ordination and concentration. From
a famous circus family, David has entertaining in his blood, and his performing
pedigree shines strong.
Equestrian Majesty by Royal Command
Award winning Tom Roberts returns by popular demand with a completely
new act staring his troupe of six stunning Palomino horses. Last year Tom
received the ultimate accolade of a Royal request to perform for HM Queen
Elizabeth II at her Golden Jubilee celebrations. The first circus horses
to ever appear in a Royal Horse Show, Zippos Palominos wowed the Royal
audience with a beautifully executed performance, and now the public can
marvel at the majesty that enraptured Her Majesty.
Roll Up the Ringmaster of Ringmasters
Keeping proceedings running smoothly is Ringmaster extraordinaire,
Norman Barrett. The debonair Mr Barrett is a celebrated Ringmaster,
having spent 25 years at Blackpool Tower Circus and stunning US audiences
with his skills at the Big Apple Circus in New York. This is Norman’s third
year with Zippo and he does not come alone! As well as keeping all the
other acts in check, Norman will be performing with his much loved budgerigars
in a carefully choreographed act with plenty of cheeky surprises!
This incredible line up of talent will be gathered together in an atmosphere
of unique magic where the music, laughter, candy floss, popcorn, sawdust
and lights will entrance guests young and old alike.
