The Bike Show 2001
On April 20th-22nd at the NEC comes the most eagerly awaited event of the year. Seven years in the making, over 500 tonnes of dirt, dozens of Europe’s best riders, produced by Britain’s best selling mountain bike magazine – Mountain Biking UK, the biggest and best bike show ever to hit the United Kingdom - Bike 2001! The Bike Show 2001 offers visitors an adrenalin-charged interactive environment unlike any other exhibition in the UK. Even now, the Bike Show is still growing, evolving and delivering the very best from the world of cycling. And with over 40,000 people expected through the door, the 2001 show will be the biggest yet needing two halls to fit in all of the entertainment. Manufacturer showcase stands, test tracks for the crowd to try out all the new bike ranges, a massive retail village, and its not just bikes and components. Some of the most unbelievable riding on the planet happens at The Bike Show every April:
For the first time ever in the UK, an indoor four man supercross track will take center stage. Europe’s best mountain bikers and BMX racers will each battle it out three times a day in their quest for the £9,000 prize money. Taking part in the action will be the likes of European No.1, Steve Peat, Scott Beaumont, Will Longden, as well as 20 inch demons Dylan Clayton along with Kye & Toby Forte. The Etnies BMX Street & Vert competition will give the crowd the ultimate in excitement as the World’s best riders fly through the air in an attempt to win the $15,000 prize money. The trials demo area will offer 3 set demonstrations every day featuring world class riders including the Martyns and the Tongue brothers. But that’s not all! Saracen is bringing the whole MAD trials team along to run masterclasses on a specially designed course. Anyone can have a go, from the smallest kids to the biggest adults under the guidance of the country’s number one stunt team.
In the Bike Show’s new Road Zone, you’ll be able to race head to head on the BCF’s competition rollers, meet some of the sport’s top pros, and check out some of the latest road machinery. Look out for a special appearance from a couple of Olympic medal winners! And cyclists with a desire to check out more exotic terrain need look no further than the holiday village.
